Ko Racha Yai is just 10 miles South of Phuket and has very clear waters, good coral reefs and white sand beaches surrounded by large granite boulders. On the West side of the island you will find Bungalow Bay which is a favourite diving and snorkelling spot during the high season.
From May to October when the larger waves on the West coast prevent diving and snorkelling on that side the East coast of Ko Racha Yai still has lots to offer with three great dive sites and many calm protected bays where swimming and snorkelling is safe and enjoyable.
Another 5 miles South of Ko Racha Yai is the smaller island of Ko Racha Noi. This is another great spot for diving and although the snorkelling is more limited due to the steeply shelving bays there are still lots of beautiful spots to explore. On the south east side of the island there is a small group of boulders that form a small island. This is connected to a pristine beach by a sand bar that covers at high tide and makes a great lunch stop in either season.
Racha Noi is also a great spot for deep sea fishing with three large pinnacles just a mile to the south west of the bottom tip of the island and the 100 metre drop off another 12 miles further out.
